My favorite people to be around are our chosen family.

I talk about this fairly often, especially in my posts about festival. We all have our family, yes… people that we are associated with by blood and not by choice. But we also have our chosen, spiritual family — folks that we have selected and made a conscious decision to say “these are my people!”

It’s always interesting to consider how this might transcend lifetimes. If you feel especially familiar with someone you’ve just met, have you ever wondered if you knew them in a previous life? I often get this sensation within the coven family, as if we’ve all just been reincarnating over and over into different groups where we can find each other again and learn new views on spirituality.

This is why initiation is such a big deal. We’re not just welcoming someone into our coven for this lifetime (which, in and of itself isn’t something to scoff at)… we’re also creating a karmic link that might connect us for lives to come.

Who are your favorite people to be around?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends!

On Sunday morning, I interviewed Deborah Lipp. We had an excellent conversation about her book, Bending the Binary, and along the way we got to talk about other cool topics like alchemy and Qabalah. In the next day or so, I’ll be putting the raw footage up on Patreon for early access… and then it will find its way into M3 Episode 8! I’m really excited to share this stuff with everyone — the book has a powerful message that I hope you have an open mind to hear.

I am really honored by all the amazing people so far who have come and spent half an hour or an hour with me on my channel. A few years ago, a High Priest was telling me about a conversation he had with Margot Adler… and I remember cutting him off and being like “WOW, you’ve talked to Margot Adler?” If you don’t know, she wrote Drawing Down the Moon, which is sort of Pagan literary staple. I spent a few moments imagining what kinds of questions I would have asked someone like that if I was ever given the opportunity. And now here I am doing just that!

Speaking of cool conversations, I also finished the written summary of Episode 7 with Thorn Mooney where we discuss things like runes and social media.

RAV finally posted my “tips for choosing a drum” video on their channel, which means a few things…

  1. I’ll be posting it here in about a week. I just basically have to give them first dibs to views
  2. You can watch it right now on their channel if you really want to see it
  3. I’m starting to release a new song

In order to showcase their Vast drum in a different light than normal, I wrote, recorded, and produced a somewhat electronic sounding song. It features the RAV Vast drum, cello, vocals, bass, and a synth drum kit. It’s definitely different from anything I’ve ever created before, but I like it. Since I made it for part of the “tips” video, there’s also a music video to go along with it. You can currently find this on my Patreon page… but in a few weeks I’ll have the audio pushed out to major streaming platforms.

Echoes Teaser

The song is called Echoes. I think you’ll like it.

And then there’s the small things. I made a Brigid’s cross out of wheat, which came out fantastically, but is too late for Imbolc.

Brigid's Cross

I made a couple of short videos. One is just a clip from me playing IO Pan at Turning the Tides. The other is clip from my Q&A Video where I talk about music and spirituality, which mentions how I have tried to explain how I feel during ritual by using musical experiences.

Coming soon, I’ve got a Turning the Tide 2024 recap post and a Fluid Condensers Part 3! There’s also some other really cool things in the works that I’m just not ready to share yet, but I promise I’ll talk about them when it’s time!

Oh, and in mundane news, Selene and I watched The Marvels. Rating: blah/10. It felt low budget… sort of like how the Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special felt low budget, but without any of the redeeming humor.

That’s all for now! Cheers!
