Just to be clear, I am not a cat. I wouldn’t even say I am very cat-like. But I think it would be nice to be one.
If you own a cat (or cats), then you understand. Cats have it made – this should be obvious to you. If you don’t own cats, then simply observing one for a day should provide you with enough evidence to come to this conclusion on your own.
Do you feel like chasing things? Cool. Do you feel like getting cozy and taking a nap? Cool. That’s your day. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.
Seriously. I enviously watch our cats lounging around, frequently saying things like “I wish I knew what it felt like to be that comfortable.”
We have one cat, Freya, who enjoys the finer things. She likes fuzzy blankets and soft pillows. Loki, on the other hand, makes himself king of electronics, papers, and books. All night he’s been lounging on my copy of Initiation Into Hermetics, but his true passion is curling up in boxes. Every time we open an Amazon package, he has to see if he fits inside — it doesn’t matter how small the box is.

Actually, he likes boxes so much that we keep one beside our bed. It’s just a little too small for him (he prefers it that way) so we had to tape up the sides to hold it together against all his usage.
Selene and I say pretty often that we’re going to come back as cats in another life. Just to be clear, though, we want to be housecats with nice humans.
We’ll curl up in sunbeam and take a nap together. And that will be our day.
Good morning and happy Monday, friends. This past week has been chaos. Our household is fighting off some sickness.
I posted a couple of articles. One was a community spotlight on Mandragora Magika, the best place around for coven listings, and the other was a fun “how to” on making runic talismans.
I’m working on an article to post later this week called “Gods of the Internet.” It should be weird — maybe even interesting. That’s all I’ll say about it for now, though.
I made a few short videos. Two are highlights from Thorn Mooney’s interview, one was for my writeup on making runic talismans, and the last was just me feeding a squirrel. I have a lot of fun with random, stupid shorts, though — it’s kind of fun to make random background music for stuff.
It’s finally time to announce some upcoming guests on M3: next week I’ll be speaking to Christopher Penczak. After that, I’m going to work out some dates to speak with Nathan Hall.
So… I have tried to embrace the power of polls over the past couple weeks. Interestingly enough, we’ve got ties all over. I made the first poll on my YouTube channel to ask what type of instrument I should feature next — we’ve got a split between single-note instruments and drums. I suppose in the event of a tie, I get to decide?
The second poll was on what song to record next! I made it on my Patreon page and right now it’s a 3-way tie; however, I did have someone comment with some chant ideas… and in the meantime, I’ve been playing around with them a bit. You should be expecting a rocked out version of “Earth My Body” sometime pretty soon here.
I’m also scheduled to appear on the Mystery College podcast later this week.
In mundane news, Selene and I watched the movie Spaceman, in which Adam Sandler goes to space and talks to a talking space spider. What is there to not like about that plot?
Oh, and I’m extending my craftsmanship skills to the world of leather. Selene got me this badass leatherworking toolkit for our anniversary. I haven’t quite decided what I’m going to make first, but some veg tan leather pieces are arriving tomorrow so I’m sure I’ll decide on something soon.
Cheers! And have a great week!
