The expression of elaborate pontifications is preferably not performed extemporaneously.
Am I right?
I love self-expression, but finding the right words in a reasonable time frame has always given me some trouble. I’m prone to long, mid-sentence pauses. It probably drives my wife crazy.
But you can’t tell any of that when you read my writing.
Unless… of course… I was writing… with too many… what are those things called again? Ellipses…
When I write, I have the time to sit down and think about the best way to explain things. I can see the details in front of me. I can edit and improve.
When I speak, none of that is true.
Unless of course, I’m speaking in public. I’ve been told I give good presentations. But in such situations, you know what I do to prepare? I write out notes.
