It never hurts to pay attention to the little things.

Allow me to illustrate.

I found these awesome flowers a couple of weeks ago outside of the post office.

I stopped for a moment — long enough to enjoy them and take a picture.

When I went back a few days ago, they were gone. Mowed over.

Thus, the marvelous spiritual lesson in all of this mess is that life and all of its beauty are fleeting. Or maybe it’s just to pay extra attention to flowers while shipping packages.

What details of your life could you pay more attention to?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends.

As per usual, this week was full of stuff.

For starters, Tuesday was Obatala’s day, so we made a little offering of rice and left it on his altar.

Our little Obatala altar…

I wrote a post on Reculement. It has received mixed reviews. Haha. That’s okay, and I know it can be a touchy subject for some folks. I didn’t expect everyone to agree with me.

I edited out a portion of last week’s performance and uploaded it to YouTube. You can check it out here — hope you like House of the Rising Sun! The full video of the concert is up on Patreon for supporters if you’d like to watch it.

I also had a kickass interview with Lon Milo DuQuette. That’ll be a future episode of M3, but… again, Patreon supporters get early access to it right now.

Alright, enough plugs for my stuff. Check out this awesome skull shawl that Selene made.

She definitely put a lot of work into this one! It’s up on our Etsy store for anyone who might be interested in giving it a home.

What will she make next? We’ll just have to wait and see. At the very least, I can tell you they Freya is very excited to find out.

This is MY yarn…

Freya loves helping. She’s very good at holding these comfy balls of yarn.

I made a Brigid’s cross. That’s something we usually do for Imbolc, but it was for an order, so I hopped to it in the middle of Autumn.

Wheat Brigid’s Cross

We had a pretty relaxing day on Saturday. It was nice.

Empanada

We were far enough away from the path of Hurricane Helene, but we did catch some high winds and heavy rain. We lost power a few times, but the only real casualties here were some plants that got knocked over.

Selene and I spent some time out in the “garden” to clean stuff up. I’ve got a few extra pots that have been sitting out there for months and are completely overgrown by weeds — and I decided to tackle that before re-homing some other plants. As I started ripping out some of those “weeds,” I noticed they smelled very nice.

It turns out they weren’t all weeds. It was a tiny forest of ginger, which I had tried to plant almost a year ago. I honestly thought it had died and had given up on it, but now it was thriving in an almost empty pot! I gently combed through the roots and gave it a new home with fresh soil.

Healing Sunflower

Jasmine and Oyster

The sunflowers with broken stalks seem to be healing. And I repotted the Jasmine and some of our moderately poisonous Oyster plants into stackable planters – I think it’s a good mix of toxic and sweetly fragrant.

The next episode of M3 with Alexian is coming up in the queue. And then I’ve got a lot of other videos I’m trying to make.

And in other news… we saw Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. It was entertaining enough — very reminiscent of the original. Not a lot of rewatch value there, but a perfectly fine way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I think that’s all for now, but as always… stay tuned for more!
