I can’t actually imagine life without a computer — I’ve been using them since I was a little kid. They’ve always been a major component of my daily life.
I’m not even sure what tasks I’m capable of performing without one.
Driving somewhere? I’m following Google Maps.
Cooking something? I’m reading a recipe on my phone.
Paying a bill? That’s coming electronically. I can’t even remember the last time I sent a paper check.
Trying to get someone’s attention? Need to deliver an important message? That’s a phone call, text, or email.
Writing my book? That’s a Google Doc.
Reading a book? Usually on Kindle or audiobook, even if I own a hard copy.
Teaching a workshop? Yeah, I’m standing in front of a slideshow presentation.
Even most of my music lately has been digital in some way, shape, or form.
In fact, one of the only things I do without electronics these days is magick. And even then, I use computers to gather information, take notes, and write about it.
So pretty much all I’m left with is taking my acoustic guitar and sitting on a beach somewhere.
Well… actually… that doesn’t sound so bad. Can I make money from that? Do I need money in this hypothetical situation? Hopefully not.
Guys, if you ever pass by while I’m on the beach playing guitar, please throw a coin in the guitar case. My very livelihood may depend on it.
