Believe it or not, I was not always a fan of the beach, especially as a kid.
I would groan every time my parents told us that we were going to Virginia Beach or Ocean City for a family vacation. I never really understood the appeal of relaxing in the sun or cooling off in the water, but the worst part for me was the sand. I was always completely appalled by how much sand go on and inside of everything. Even after a shower, you couldn’t completely get rid of it.
Ever since I moved to Florida, I’ve had a complete change of opinion. I love the beach now. It’s my happy place.
I’m not really sure what allowed for this revolutionary shift in mentality, but I think it was mostly just because I stopped trying to fight everything. You can’t fight the sun. You can’t fight the sand. But if you just accept those things for what they are, it becomes an enjoyable experience.
