Well, this should be an interesting question to answer. Three objects I can’t live without… hmm… Now, if it was three things I couldn’t live without, I could easily just be literal and say “air, water, and food” right? But those aren’t really objects.

My brain is screaming “Don’t say cell phone! Don’t say cell phone!” Don’t worry, brain, I won’t. I lived without a cell phone for years, thus proving that it is not required for survival.

Okay, here we go. I’m going to be pretty practical with this…

  1. Laptop. Look, I’m a writer. And as much as I enjoy the tactile sensation of writing song lyrics by hand, I need spell check, find and replace, and other word processing tools for longer projects.
  2. Guitar. I hate to say it, but my laptop comes with me more places than my guitar does these days; nonetheless, I need something to play regularly.
  3. Noise-Canceling Headphones. Once you experience life with a good pair of noise-canceling headphones, it’s pretty hard to go back.

Those are probably the things I have used consistently for the longest time.

What can’t you live without?

What are three objects you couldn’t live without?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends. Happy start to March!

First up, y’all, what’s better than free? I’ll be presenting a workshop at Botanica Obscura on March 8th and I’ve got one free weekend pass to the entire conference that I’m giving away.

Here’s a snapshot of the schedule.

If you’d like a chance to win, all you have to do is go find the Facebook post I made about it. Leave a comment with your favorite herb. You have until tonight to enter! I’ll be announcing the winner on Tuesday.

Other news…

Best guesses as to what this next picture is?

Okay, let me spoil it for you.

We started another batch of Kyphi. It requires soaking raisins in wine for a while, so this is just the first step.

I’m so happy that we’ve almost sold out of our first batch on Etsy. Never thought people would be so interested in buying it! And what makes it even cooler… some people are repeat customers! Making Kyphi requires a curing process of several weeks, so we wanted to start now before we run out completely.

My round of interviews for Season 3 continued last week. This time, I spoke with Jamie Della. Of course, you can watch it right now on Patreon if you’re feeling impatient with my normal release schedule.

Earlier in the week, I finally posted Ellen’s interview, which is available on YouTube. When I went to the woods to shoot her intro, I found a really cool turtle.

As for other postings, I did put up the written summary Episode 9, featuring Dave Gaddy. I think I’m finally starting to get caught up with things.

Over the weekend, Selene and I went to prison for a volunteer session. A new chaplain just started, who seems to be quite a bit more open-minded about non-Christian religions. For now, we remain optimistic. So… hurray!

I’ve got a lot of work on the docket for this week. I’m preparing for my Botanica Obscura presentation this weekend. And then I’ll be organizing my setlist for Phoenix!

In other news, Severance is perhaps the most perplexing, interesting, and disturbing show currently on TV. Anybody have any good fan theories?

That’s all for now. But stay tuned for more!

  1. Not a bad list. I can’t think of what I’d include in my own list, strange enough.

    Good luck on your presentation!

    1. Thanks, Michael! And yeah… it’s an odd list to put together. Seems like there should be obvious answers… but further reflection makes me question “do I really need that thing”

      1. I often wish I could be untethered by most things. And, perhaps, I can be. But that would take an effort I am not up to at the moment.

  2. I didn’t see this prompt, but I feel like everyone is going to say phone.
