First, let me apologize. Apparently all of the interesting writing prompts are gone. That’s okay — perhaps they will resurface later this year. For now, however, here’s what we have to deal with today.

What are some places you would never want to go?

I don’t think it’s fair to say never. There are certainly places that I’ve been and don’t really feel the need to go back, but am still happy I experienced once. Likewise, there are also places I thought I’d never want to visit, but turned out to be pretty fun.

So… all in all, I’d say it’s pretty hard to judge. Unless, of course, it’s cold. Please don’t send me to the cold.

What place in the world do you never want to visit? Why?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends! And happy start to April!

Not a lot to report today. Unfortunately, I’ve still been sick. In truth, I’m not entirely sure if my output of content has actually taken a dip or if I’ve just been wholeheartedly unenthusiastic about doing it. Attitude plays a very important part in making things… a lesson which I am trying to currently remind myself as I somewhat begrudgingly type out this update.

If you were worried about our AC dying last week, then fear no longer… for we have been saved. There were a few really hot and uncomfortable days, but I am pleased to report that our house is back down below 80 degrees! It took an entire day of gathering quotes (and among them, Costco was surprisingly one of the most expensive), but Selene and I found one we felt comfortable with and moved forward with it. The simple joys of homeownership! But as one of the sales reps jestfully told us, most people only buy a new HVAC system once or twice in their entire lives, so it was an historic day.

And now let me show you some weirdness.

Above, you will see a KitKat Cotton Candy. They were giving them out at Costco yesterday. And yes… I’ve probably been to Costco too many times over the past week, but that is beside the point.

I should have taken a third picture of the disgusted face I made when trying this thing. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should cotton candy ever be mixed with chocolate. It was terrible. I highly recommend never trying this.

In lighter news, I had a most excellent conversation with Byron Ballard last week. Unfortunately, the cloud is not playing nicely with me. As soon as I can actually retrieve that conversation, I’ll post it on Patreon and it’ll eventually become a future episode of M3.

I’ve been working on migrating the Phoenix Festivals website from Wix to WordPress over the past couple of weeks. I think it’s starting to come out nicely and hopefully now you can have a more accessible resource for finding out about their future festival dates and schedules.

I managed to finish Jamie Della’s interview, which is now the second episode of Season 3. I think you’ll enjoy it! Go give it a watch on YouTube.

This week you can look forward to a recap of my past year running this blog — how many words did I write, how many articles did I post? And maybe some written highlights for an M3 episode as well.

In mundane news… Selene and I binged all available episodes of The Pitt. What an amazing show! If you haven’t seen it… go watch it. Now the season is almost over and we’re sad.

We also took the kids to see the Minecraft movie. Or should I say, A Minecraft Movie. I was not amused and will add it to my list of “Movies I Didn’t Really Need to See the First Time and Now Certainly Never Need to Watch Again.”

Well… that’s all for now, but certainly stay tuned for more!

  1. Never say never. But I’ll pass for now on the cotton candy chocolate.

    1. You have made a wise choice, my friend! For now… at least…

  2. No need to apologise. View the prompts from strange, bizarre, surreal or absurd perspectives. Sometimes the best prompts are the ones that vanish mid-thought, so mundane they leave barely a ripple in the subconscious. From that void springs wonder: in my case the prompt “what place do you never want to visit” led to the squelch of deep-sea dreams, the polite refusal of the Mariana Trench, the whispered secrets of sideways logic. When the official prompts lack interest, squint at them, imagine them through a haze of smoke, rippling water or even wobbling ectoplasm. Chase them down barefoot, backwards, while singing nonsense to the moon and viewing yourself upside down in a fairground mirror. As for cotton candy Kit Kats, I’d never want to visit the quality control station on that production line: nom, nom, urgh, nom, nom, urgh. Hour after hour…

    1. I dig your perspective, man. Sometimes that little change in view is hard to find, but you really nailed it.
