If and when Selene and I ever leave South Florida, one of the hardest adaptations will probably be to new restaurants.
We’ve spent years finding our favorites here. And we’ve got a list.
Best burger? Yeah, we know where to find it. Best cheesesteak sub? Not an issue. Best lo mein? Pad thai? Burrito? Prime rib sandwich? Chicken tikka masala? Yes, yes. All those things and more!
I will share one of those with you today.

The Brass Ring Pub is a little hole-in-the-wall dive bar with a certain undefinable charm that can only be expressed through its dimly lit atmosphere and slightly sticky floors. There’s also a pool table in the back, which I’ve never played on, but can only imagine has ripped felt.
Here, you will find the best cheeseburger.
You’re welcome.
Good morning and happy Monday, friends!
It’s my birthday week! And my blog turned a year older this month, too — so I wrote a post on that a few days ago. If you’d like to see how far I’ve come, give it a read.
A little earlier in the week, I also posted the written highlights for Emily Guenther’s interview. If you haven’t checked that episode out already, you totally should.
I have to say it has felt like a more productive week. As you may have read in some of my recent updates, being sick was really putting a dampener on my output. Here’s to health!
I made a silly little video about Prayer Beads. You can go watch it now or wait until later this week when I write an article about the same topic. Totally up to you!
I’ve got more M3 episodes headed to you guys soon! I’m really excited because Byron Ballard’s interview was rescued from the depths of technological doom — it was pretty touch and go there for a while, but I’m happy that it was recoverable. The raw footage is up on Patreon for supporters to watch. On Thursday evening, I had a really great chat with David Shi, the author of Spirit Voices, and that will be up on Patreon later this week.
I don’t have a lot of pictures to share this time, so please settle for a photo of a squirrel that is happily munching on someone’s pizza crust. I love squirrels.

Friday night was coven night. One of our initiates taught a really cool class on charm bags.
On Saturday, we were scheduled for a prison visit. We drove all the way there (about an hour), went through security, made our way into the chapel… and were told that everybody was going to be on lockdown for the rest of the day. So… we got basically got right back in the car and drove home. Sometimes it can be very discouraging when things like this happen, but at least we know that we’re doing our part by showing up — there are just some things that are totally out of our control.
We spent Saturday night going out to dinner with some friends, then Selene and I hopped to another restaurant and got some dessert.

Churros and tres leches! They were both delicious.
We’re making our way through the newest season of Black Mirror. The first episode was horrifying and depressing, but the rest of them have been pretty lackluster. We’ve also finished up the latest seasons of Yellowjackets and The Pitt. Feels like we’re running out of shows to watch now, so I’m open to suggestions.
I think that’s all for today, but I’ve got more to share with you later in the week. As always, stay tuned for more!
