I have to say that as a kid, I had a pretty limited list of things that I actually enjoyed eating. And most of the things that I liked… well, I grew out of liking them.

At the moment, I can’t think of a single one that would qualify as healthy.

Gushers, Fruit by the Foot, Dunkaroos, Handi-Snacks, Cosmic Brownies… I used to die for those snacks. Pair it with a Capri Sun, a Squeezit, or a box of Yoo-hoo… and you would have made my day.

I don’t really care for those things anymore.

But I can tell you about one particular item that I loved as a kid and still love as an adult: lemon cookies.

We used to eat them around the holidays. It was a “secret” family recipe — not our immediate family, but someone else’s… although somehow my mom acquired it regardless. I seem to remember it involving a box of cake mix and a tub of cool whip, which is a little bizarre.

The cookies themselves are light and fluffy, but at the same time… chewy and lemony. I must say they are quite tasty and very much remind me of being a kid.

Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Selene and I are back from Summer Magick Fest. It was such a great time, but so, so, so very hard to leave. Every year, in fact, it gets harder to head home. I’m not sure exactly why that is — we tried to have a little conversation about it as we drove away, but no firm conclusions were reached.

The fact is… we see many of the same folks fairly regularly — maybe once every few months. And we go to other festivals, too… but there is just something different about the Summer Magick astral landscape. Every time we meet, it feels like we are truly building a bigger and better community.

Speaking of that community, we received an almost overwhelming amount of donations for prison ministry. We’re just floored by the response. It’s amazing and we couldn’t have asked for more. I’ll try to post some pictures of the haul later today after I’ve had time to unbox and sort everything.

Alright, here’s a couple highlights of the weekend.

There was a photo booth with silly props.

I set up an altar to Pan (among many other beautiful altars, which I will share pictures of later).

And I taught a workshop on scrying and magick mirrors.

That’s just scratching the surface. I’ve got a lot more pictures to share with you, but you’ll have to wait for the Summer Magick recap post that I’ll be making… hopefully later this week! It’s going to take me quite a while to sort and organize everything!

On the way home, we stopped for some food to help ease the transition. We went to Raglan Road again. I’m not sure why we’ve been in Orlando so many times over the past few months, but now we’re basically regulars.

I have less new things for you this week due to all the running around and prepping for festival… so… I am sorry, but there’s no new article post or anything. But you can enjoy this one thing… that I happened to record in advance:

It felt weird to skip a week of posting my regular articles and stuff, but I really needed to time to focus on my workshop.

And it’s not over! The start of my class series is just a week away!

There’s still time to grab your ticket.

Ah, well. I’m going to go unpack, take more pictures, and try to readjust to normal life.

That’s all for now, but definitely stay tuned for more soon!
