I’d like to share a piece of advice that I heard recently:
“Moving forward while looking backward is usually not a very good idea.”
How often do we find ourselves progressing in life, but too focused on our previous missteps to enjoy the forward momentum? The wake doesn’t drive the boat, as they say. Our past can only indicate where we’ve come from, not where we’re going. Better to look ahead!
Of course, in this particular instance, the above quote was uttered by a father to his son, immediately after the child careened into me at a restaurant.
Still, it’s fairly straightforward and practical advice for many situations. Remember y’all, the lips of wisdom are closed except to the ears of the understanding.
Good morning and happy Monday, friends! Happy October! ‘Tis the season to load up on cinnamon brooms…
…and sushi.

I had another blurry week of school, but there have been some highlights.
Selene and I traveled to Rhode Island again. We left on Friday afternoon, hung out for a few hours, and then flew back home late Saturday. With the layovers and connecting flights, it felt like we were traveling for infinity hours.
I found the ocean in the self-proclaimed “Ocean State.”

Well, technically… it’s a “harbor.” But it all connects, right?
And I did get that coffee milk latte that I’ve had my eye on for a few months.

It was good, but it was also basically just a regular latte. I think I can now finally end my obsession with coffee milk.
While passing by a LEGO store, I couldn’t help but notice they have an Enterprise D set. Now that’s something I would build.

We got back just in time to pop into StaarCon for my presentation. I gave another talk on runes. More StaarCon thoughts shall come later, time permitting!

I also encountered someone who said they enjoy being on my mailing list. I won’t out them, but to this individual (you know who you are), I would like to say: thanks. It’s sometimes strange to think that anyone [other than my wife] reads these words.
Speaking of my wife… at some point this past week, she made medialunas.

They were delicious.
I’m done with festivals and presentations for a while. I’ve had to delay my M3 schedule slightly, but as soon as I catch up with school, I’ll have a new episode out for everyone!
That’s all for now, friends. Stay tuned for more soon!
