What gave it away?
Was it, perhaps, the name of my blog?
You know, when I was deciding on the official name, I put the most important one first. Music, Myth, and Magick. My interest in music came way before anything else. In fact, it’s my first memory — but I’ll tell you about that another day. For now, I’ll just tell you that music is magick. And I’m not just talking to musicians.
For all of you non-musicians out there, you’ve participated in the magick of music any time you’ve queued up your favorite song to raise your mood. Is that really magick, you’re wondering? Of course it is. Have you ever felt compelled to stamp your foot or sway your hips to a beat? Great, you just experienced your own personal energy being elevated closer to source, if only briefly.
Music is magick. Magick is music.
Good morning and happy Monday, friends! While writing the date for this post, I’m wondering… how is it October already?
As I said last time, this is going to be a busy month… but I think the reality of that is finally starting to settle. In a couple of weeks, Selene and I will be heading to FPG. I’m playing a show there on Thursday night, but we have no idea how we’ll be getting all our camping gear plus my musical equipment into one car. We’ve also never camped for so many consecutive days before, so I think the car will be extra packed with supplies. That challenge aside, I’m really looking forward to being outdoors with our spiritual family. I think the FPG workshop schedule will be released fairly soon and I’ll be sure to share it on Facebook when it’s finally out.
Later today I’ll be interviewing Oracle Hekataios for episode 4 of M3. We had a pre-interview discussion last week about some conversational topics. I won’t spoil it, but I’m excited!
Over the past week, I worked pretty heavily on Fluid Condensers Part 3. I have to say I’m surprised at the length so far. I usually aim about 10 minutes in an article, but the latest installment is edging past 20. By contrast, what you’re reading now is estimated at 3. I’ve been scouring over some older texts to review recipes for the article and I happened to come across a giant collection of occult books on archive.org. Archive is becoming my new favorite site. So many books to read… and for free! If you’d like to peruse this massive list, here’s the link.
I actually spent so much time working on fluid condensers that I realized I hadn’t written anything else for the week, so I revived an older draft post about “circle buzz” and published that. I probably have 20-30 unfinished drafts like this that are just waiting for the right moment or an inspired polish.
…
Sorry, I just rabbit-holed for a minute. “Polish” (language) and “polish” (making something shiny) are spelled the same way, only differentiated by the capitalization of the first letter. Language is such an interesting thing, isn’t it?
Other than that, we’re hoping for a little cold front soon. It’s almost time to break out the pumpkin carving supplies, so I’ll have to start working on a Samhain article soon!
Cheers!
