What are you most proud of in your life?

What am I most proud of? Well, a lot of things in my life, actually. I’m proud of my music and I’m certainly proud of my writing.

For the purposes of answering this question; however, I’m going to limit myself to a topic that has something to do with the craft… and something that I do with someone else. That way, it won’t just be paragraphs and paragraphs of me rambling on about myself — I do that anyway every week.

If I had to choose one thing that I’m extremely proud of, it would be that the way Selene and I ritual together. Okay, I don’t think “ritual” is officially a verb, but we tend to use it that way fairly often. Perhaps it’d be more grammatically correct to say “the way we perform ritual together,” but I digress.

Finding your magickal partner is no small feat and I’m blessed to be married to mine. We put a lot of thought and effort into all the magick we do together and I really think it shows. We practice. We run through things. We do “dress rehearsals.” We pick up on each others cues and can fill in the gaps. If I’ve forgotten something, usually she remembers.

We’re certainly not perfect, but we’ve got a great flow. In my humble opinion, that flow is an important part of successfully raising energy.

Good morning and happy Monday, friends!

This past week I’ve been focusing on the workshop I’ll be giving at FPG entitled “The Magickal Voice.” So far I’ve got about 7 pages of lecture notes (read: random thoughts I jotted down) and about half of a handout. I’m also preparing some visual aids… and for this purpose, I have obtained a slinky from Amazon.

I finished and posted M3 Episode 4 — both the YouTube video and the article. I felt a little rushed while writing… mostly because there’s so many competing ideas in my head right now trying to get out. In the next week I have my class, a show, multiple blog posts, and an article on Samhain that need to be finished. I’m grateful for the overload, though… when I first started writing, there were weeks where I sat around just wondering “what the heck do I write about?” Now there’s just an unyielding, unending flow.

Since we’ll be traveling this week, our coven celebrated Samhain a little early on Friday. The ritual was lead by one of our initiates. Selene and I are so, so proud of the effort she put in to make it a beautiful circle. As part of the festivities, we built an ancestor altar, which was filled with pictures, candles, offerings, and bright orange flowers. We also did a bit of pendulum divination. I got kind of in a headspace and was receiving some very strong messages… had to grab my notebook and jot a few notes down.

On Sunday, Selene and I attended an initiation from our mother coven. I acted as high priest for the ritual. Initiations usually leave me pretty wiped out energetically for a few days, so here’s hoping I make it through the rest of my workload!

In our tradition, it’s customary for the initiate to bring a gift for their initiators. It helps balance the flow and sets the stage for an energy exchange. Don’t worry, the initiate gets gifts, too — from everyone! Over the years, I’ve received some great gifts… books, wind chimes, a Baphomet statue, and a set of antlers all come to mind. This time I got a new decoration for my Pan altar.

My updated Pan altar. Original image.

I originally posted a picture of my personal altar a while back in my article on Pan. I might hang the new picture underneath the altar (it’s pretty high on the wall to prevent cat access), but for now it’s resting comfortable as a backdrop. Either way, it looks badass.
