Footwear is important when you’re camping or hiking. I’ve had a pair of boots for the past few years that has served me quite well in these endeavors. They look something like this…

Actually, I think this is exactly my boots.

The color, style, and brand aren’t really important so long as they’re just an overall good pair of boots. They’ve taken me hiking in the mountains and camping at many festivals. They keep my feet warm and dry… and they handle mud pretty well too.

But you know the funny thing? I have to take them off when I ground.

Actually, it doesn’t matter what type of shoes I’m wearing. I just can’t ground properly while donning any manner of footwear.

Does the rubber sole block the flow of energy? Or is it just all in my head? Either way, I need to feel grass beneath my toes.

After ritual, I like to kick off my shoes and stand on the earth for a minutes. I relax and picture excessive energy draining out of me from head to toe. I feel like this is a great way to prevent circle buzz, tiredness, or migraines the next day after doing some magick.

Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.

Good morning and happy Monday, friends.

This past week, I continued my “Music for Everyone” series by making a video on how to play guitar. It took me a day to shoot and a few more to edit. Will it make you an expert on playing guitar? Absolutely not. Will it entertain you for about 12 minutes and 42 seconds? Honestly, yeah, I think so. And about halfway through, I rock out to We All Come from the Goddess. Later this week, I’ll post a written summary.

For the past 2 weeks, I’ve had Dream a Little Dream of Me stuck in my head. Sometimes the only way to get rid of a tune like that is to actually work it out, so I recorded 60 seconds of it and put it up as a YouTube short. I’m really happy with how it sounds (after about 30 minutes applying my audio production skills) and now wish I would have recorded the full song. You can listen to it and rest assured that it does not mean Vecna is after you. Or me.

Selene and I had a volunteer session at prison. We are now in possession of a signed paper memo that states we are authorized to bring coffee and donuts in with us each time — a privilege that has only taken a year to earn. We met with the inmates in the chapel library this time, which was quiet. The normal rooms are incredibly loud and echoey. It was nice to be able to hear everyone speaking clearly without struggling to speak at high volumes.

We hit up our favorite post-prison brunch spot — about halfway between our house and the facility where we volunteer — and then went on a quest to find a new witchy shop. It’s really sad how many locations have closed down in the past few years. Most of what remains around our area is just overpriced with bad energy. We didn’t actually find a witchy shop, per se, but we did find a hippy shop, which was fun.

For coven book club last week, we discussed The Four Elements of the Wise by Ivo Dominguez Jr. Ya’ll already know how I feel about the book… I talk about it here with the cornerstones and here in episode 1… and there are other references littered throughout the rest of my writing… so it was nice to be able to have a more in-depth talk with our initiates. Ivo writes about other elemental systems, including the tattwas (or tattvas, if you prefer that spelling). At some point, I remember making a remark like “I’ve always wanted to learn more about tattwas, but I’ve never had a reason to.”

And the universe heard. A friend reached out and invited us to a “tattwa session.” Isn’t it funny how sometimes you get exactly what you ask for? We meditated on the symbol for air along with some binaural beats and strobe lights. It was fantastic!

You can expect Episode 8 later this week. Stay tuned for more!

Cheers.
