The era of the mom and pop instrument shop or small town music store is just about over. I worked for one for a few years and it was a decent gig. It’s fun selling instruments to people… and when there’s nobody around, you play. Unfortunately, most places like this have been bought up by larger chains like Music & Arts.
If I was opening a shop, I think I’d pack it full or guitars, pianos, amps, speakers, microphones, and any other cool music equipment I could find.
It’d be a great excuse to buy more gear.
Yeah, I bought all 100 of those guitars to “sell.” Definitely not to play.
I realize that’s probably not a realistic business model.
As another thought, there’s a giant business plaza that just opened up right down the street from us. I keep joking with my wife that we should grab one of the units and open up a bougie witchy store there, selling crystals and candles at ridiculous Palm Beach prices.
Hey, it could work.
Or maybe a combination of the two? A witchy store filled with guitars. That way, all future musical or magickal purchases could be tax deductions. Hmm. Now we’re talking.
Be right back, gotta grab a new LLC.
