There are few things in my life that will ever be able to match the excitement I felt as a kid for Saturday morning cartoons. I would set an alarm and wake up super early to catch as many shows as possible. It was basically a religious experience complete with a morning ritual of pouring a bowl of cereal and plopping down on the couch.
It’s pretty different from today, where if you wake me up at 6:00 on a weekend, I’m going to be very, very grumpy. But as a kid, I would have been grumpy from not waking up. If I missed that early block of cartoons, I felt like I had failed myself.
There were so many shows, but a few stick out.
- Batman: The Animated Series (1992 – 1995)
- Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994 – 1998)
- Animaniacs (1993 – 1998)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987 – 1996)
- Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990 – 1996)
- Transformers (1984 – 1987)
- X-Men: The Animated Series (1992 – 1997)
Everybody I knew always went crazy for Rugrats, but I wasn’t allowed to watch it.
For most of my childhood, we didn’t have cable. On normal weekdays, my TV-watching consisted entirely of PBS programming like Reading Rainbow and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. I was also rather fond of Bob Ross and… actually now that I think about it, Antiques Roadshow, believe it or not — I guess that was just the most interesting thing in comparison to the soap operas, talk shows, infomercials, or news on the other channels.
But Saturdays were special because Saturdays had cartoons.
This email version of this post has been scheduled for distribution precisely at 6:00am in honor of my inner child. As I once awoke to the excitement of cartoons, you can now awake to… well, to this.
Good morning and happy Monday, friends!
I shall start this update with the most exciting news of all. It’s finally PSL season again.

Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato
Obviously, the apple crisp macchiato is far superior to the pumpkin spice latte, but they come hand-in-hand with each other on the calendar. I’m sure I’ll experiment more with the menu as the season continues.
We just got back from an awesome coven weekend in Jacksonville. We rented an Airbnb and spent a bit of time together — some of that time was spent shooting pool… and some of it was spent playing guitar.

Group Pic
Look at us. Aren’t we cute? Our Airbnb was nice and comfy. It even had a playroom for our tiniest covener.
I discovered a menacing nest of wasps on the back patio. They were very, very busy with construction. I spent some time watching them and got close enough to take some pictures for my own fascination. We left them alone and they didn’t bother us.

Approach with caution…
On the way back home, we stopped at Buc-ee’s, one of the most majestic gas stations known to mankind. Selene and I posed for a picture with the great beaver himself. I appreciate her being a good sport here.

Me, Selene, and Buc-ee
We left with some fudge. And cotton candy. And taffy. And sandwiches. And…

Mint Chocolate Fudge
Alright, let’s rewind a little bit.
The night before we left on our trip, someone rear-ended us in a parking lot as we were eating dinner. Our table just happened to be by a window in the restaurant, so we saw it happen. Luckily, I had just prepared a new batch of Mercury incense. Suffice it to say, I made sure to burn quite a bit as an offering the next morning and asked for some driving protection. It must have worked because… we made it and we made it back!

Mercury Incense
Earlier in the week, I nearly finished Opal Luna’s interview. There’s some behind the scenes moments up on Patreon of the ridiculousness of what I did for the intro. I hope to have it posted on YouTube later this week, but as usual, I’m feeling like I’m behind schedule. I also made some short videos, which are always fun.
We finally got another donation of books approved for prison, so it’s nice to be getting to the end of the stash we collected from Summer Magick. And we’re still regularly answering plenty of messages from inmates located all around the country.
I published two articles. One is another installment on Color Magick. The other is about Binaural Beats.
I’ve got another article coming out later this week — I just haven’t decided which one to finish yet. I’ve got too many ideas, but that’s usually a good thing.
I think that’s all for now. As usual, stay tuned for more soon!
