Although it’s occasionally gotten me into some trouble in the past, my general perspective is that I’ll try most things once. After all, how can you really know whether or not you like a thing until you’ve done it?
Please note that I did say most things. Not all things.
And while this may seem like a very open-ended and general guideline, I’m actually talking about something very specific: pizza.
A few weeks ago, if you had asked me where to find the best Chicago deep dish style pizza in all of Florida, I would have had a definite answer for you. It was Palma Pizza on Northlake Blvd — and seriously… it was just about as good as Chicago deep dish pizza from Chicago. Unfortunately, they closed… as have so many other great places around here.
Let the quest begin.
Yesterday, Selene found a new deep dish pizza place. We gave it a try, hoping to discover a new favorite.

Pizza
Was it as good as Palma Pizza? Nope. It was merely adequate. I won’t mention their name, lest I sully their reputation.
For now, the quest goes on. We will just have to keep trying new pizzas until we uncover a new best.
By the way, if you’re wondering where Chicago deep dish pizza falls on the great scale of crusts, I’ve taken the liberty of creating a simple mathematical formula…
New York = Chicago > New Haven > Detroit
Yes, I know I’ve left out quite a few styles there, but it’s still in beta.
Good morning and happy Monday, friends.
I’m happy to report that we were unaffected by Hurricane Milton. Just a few power outages here and there, along with the obligatory wind and rain.
The only casualty seems to have been my music production PC. After the power flickered, it got trapped in an endless cycle of rebooting that Windows startup repair was unable to fix. I spent a significant portion of last night trying to diagnose and troubleshoot the problem. It seems to be running okay for now, but we shall see how it handles under a full load later.
It’s been a pretty gray and rainy week and our plants are definitely feeling it. We brought a bunch of them inside for protection and I can tell they’ve been missing the sunlight.
Aside from all that, and as a more positive note, you can now read the written highlights of Alexian’s interview here.
On Friday, we went out with a friend to Old Key Lime House for dinner. I took this fun picture of a pirate.

On Saturday, I spoke with Dave Gaddy, the author of The Simple Magick of Wild Things. His raw interview footage is up on Patreon as an early access benefit for supporters. It will eventually become Episode 8 of Season 2.
Can you believe we’re almost at the end of Season 2? I only have one more interview for this season. Who will it be? You’ll just have to wait and see! And then a short break… and I’ll start the process all over again with Season 3!
On Sunday, Selene and I stopped by the GreenMarket in North Palm Beach.

Where else can you find all of the above things in one location?
We took a tiny squash plant home from the farmers market… but it brought an unexpected visitor!

Wow, those guys can really munch away leaves! Sorry bro, but you can’t eat our new plant.
That’s all for now, y’all.
Stay tuned for more!
