I totally understand the appeal of solitary practice. I myself started out that way. Sometimes you’ve got to work things out alone in the shadows before you can work them in front of people. And let’s be honest, the coven environment isn’t for everyone.

It’s funny. Most of the time, when seekers contact us about coven membership, our conversations eventually reveal that they’re not actually looking for a coven. They’re looking for community. They’re tired of being alone.

So we’re always happy to help people in the right direction and recommend what resources we’re aware of. We’ve found ourselves part of local, national, and even international groups of pagans, witches, or other assorted magickal practitioners… but in my limited personal experience, local groups are often the best route — you just get to know people better that way.

If you’re out there looking for ways to connect with other like-minded individuals, you can always start with festivals or metaphysical stores. There’s probably some sort of event within driving distance from you… and if you’re lucky, there might be a group nearby that holds open rituals or celebrates the sabbats. Check Mandragora Magika to find details. You can also look for local CUUPS chapters or even Facebook groups of pagans for your town or city. And if all else fails, you can always find some sort of class or ritual that is held over Zoom.

These days, community is absolutely necessary. Beyond being a place to share knowledge and ideas, it’s also [hopefully] a collective of individuals who can support each other, challenge each other, and help each other grow. With all the garbage going on in the world, it just makes sense to stick together as much as possible.

What do you do to be involved in the community?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends. And happy start of May to you all!

I hope everyone had a blessed Beltane. On Saturday, Selene and I volunteered at prison to celebrate with the inmates. We had a nice ritual and were actually able to light a couple of tea candles — we set them on two tables and had everyone dance or pass between them, pretending it was a large bonfire. Magick is what you make of it!

On Saturday evening, we went to dinner to preemptively celebrate Selene’s birthday.

After we ate, we decided to go check out 561 Music Festival, a surprisingly free event in the area with a variety of local artists. Unfortunately, we got the location wrong… so I drove to the Fairgrounds instead of Meyer Amphitheater. By the time we finally arrived at the correct place, we were only able to catch the last act, Mason Pace, but it was still a fun show.

And after the music was over, we took a little walk out on one of the docks that leads into the intercoastal.

Earlier in the week, we were able to send some donated books to another prison — this one was in Jackson, FL. The chaplain was so delighted to receive them! We’ll be shipping some ritual supplies there soon as well.

A lot of our friends and family were at FPG Beltane this past weekend. Hope they had a great time! We are planning to catch up with everyone there for Samhain later this year.

I’m putting the finishing touches on David Shi’s episode, which will be the fourth episode of Season 3, so you can expect to see that on YouTube in the next couple of days.

I wrote the start of a series on Energetic Cleansing. There will be a part 2 soon!

I sold a rune set on Etsy earlier in the week. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to send a handmade magickal item to someone, so I made a new set!

Oh, and i had some fun making a short video where I read off negative comments that people left for me.

I have a lot of new guests that I’m booking on the show and I’ll be excited to introduce them to you as we get further along in the season.

But that’s all for now! Stay tuned for more.
