Expressing the entirety of who you are in one line is next to impossible, but most of us do it anyway. We’ve got taglines all over social media. And even if you don’t do that, there’s a pretty high likelihood your professional email signature includes some sort of title or position. We love to label ourselves.
It’s reductive, but at the same time… it’s often necessary.
I’ve written several bios for myself and I always find the experience to be strangely disembodied and slightly uncomfortable. The tricky thing is that the words will change depending on the intended audience. My writing bio, for instance, might be different than my music bio.
But they’re both still me, right?
On my website at the moment, there’s a tagline that reads: “Musician, Witch, Writer, and Priest.“
Sometimes I wonder… are those things who I am? Or are they just what I do? How do we separate the two? The doing from the being?
I can’t answer that at the moment. It’s too early for such deep thought.
Maybe my tagline should just say “I am.”
Good morning and happy Monday, friends!
Here’s what’s new this week…
- New Book Review: Three Books of Occult Philosophy
- New Podcast: Circle Buzz
- New Article: The highlights from Byron Ballard’s interview
I also made some things…
First up, I made an incense blend for Apollo.

I think it smells great. It consists of…
- 2 Parts Frankincense
- 2 Parts Myrrh
- 2 Parts Copal
- 1 Part Lemon Balm
- 1 Part Calamus Root
- 1 Part Cinnamon
- A few drops of cinnamon oil (but seriously just a few)
Or you can just watch a quick short video of the process here.
Next, I made a new rune set.

Selene and I went took the kids and went to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Take this for what you will: I am not a fan of Disney World in any way, but I believe their water parks often offer some of the worst possible park experiences. Also… it was hot.

But the evening was filled with whimsy. We went to Raglan Road (the Irish restaurant at Disney Springs) and had dinner.

There was live music, singing, and dancing. They did a fun version of Whiskey in the Jar (which, despite what I may sometimes jokingly tell you… was not a Metallica original).

And then our musical adventure continued at the Scat Cats Club where we ate some beignets and watched a three-piece jazz band perform some covers.

We’ll be leaving for Summer Magick Fest in a few days! If you’re still on the fence about getting your ticket, check out the headliners and presenters that I interviewed…
And here’s a little summary of the classes or workshops that I’ll personally be involved in…
Through the Looking Glass: Scrying and the Dark Mirror. The dark mirror is a gateway to all things unseen! Come and delve into the art of scrying. We will discuss multiple methods as well as the construction and usage of the witch’s magick mirror. Whether you are new to this art or looking to deepen your practice, this class will offer a unique opportunity to connect with the unseen and unlock the secrets of the dark mirror.
Pagan Prison Ministry and Volunteerism Panel. In this interactive panel, join four members of the community with years of experience in prison ministry as we explore the vital work of pagan prison ministry and how volunteers can make a meaningful difference in the lives of incarcerated Wiccan practitioners. Drawing from personal experience, we will discuss the unique spiritual needs of Wiccan inmates, challenges they face in a prison setting, and practical ways to support them. Topics include offering spiritual guidance, facilitating ritual and education, and advocating for religious freedom within correctional systems. If you’ve ever been curious about how you can help, this session will provide insights on how to start your own volunteering journey and tips on how to empower incarcerated Wiccans on their spiritual path.
Pan’s Devotional. I’ll be setting up an altar to Pan. Stop by on Friday and participate in a guided meditation to meet the horned god himself. Alternatively, you may drop by the altar at any time and leave an offering to Pan.
Oh, and don’t forget… The Witch’s Toolkit series starts in just a couple weeks!

Well, that’s all for now because I need to get back to writing workshops. Stay tuned for more soon!
