I will never pick a favorite album. I just can’t do it.

Instead, I’m going to list 5, mostly at random, that I have really enjoyed listening to throughout my life.

Here you go:

  • Muse – Absolution
  • Radiohead – In Rainbows
  • Elliott Smith – XO
  • Metallica – S&M
  • Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV

There you go. Those are in no particular order. Do what you will with that information.

What’s your all-time favorite album?

Good morning and happy Monday, friends!

Well, I really don’t know what to say about this week. Selene and I received elekes over the weekend. A significant portion of the week was dedicated to preparations for that… and a significant portion of the weekend was dedicated to actually doing it. But I’m not going to discuss specifics or show you pictures of all that stuff. Gotta keep some mystery, you know?

Much of the rest of my week was focused on school. For my music appreciation class, I had to make a video presentation that compared Taylor Swift to a musician born before 1900. I chose Franz Liszt because he was pretty awesome (and if you don’t believe me, go watch Rousseau play Hungarian Rhapsody No 2). Of course, I’m not going to show you my homework either.

Hmm. What can I actually show you this week?

I did take this adorable picture of Loki nestled into our couch, so there’s that.

Earlier in the week, I had a really great talk with Craig Spencer. But oh my gods did we face some technology issues. We tried for at least an hour to get my normal video recording software to work, but it just wasn’t having it. It felt so bad to waste someone’s time like that! We eventually switched to Zoom as a backup. This will eventually make its way as one of the final episodes of Season 3. The video might be a little lower quality, but it’s better than nothing!

Continuing my series that breaks down each individual part of ritual, I wrote a post on Evoking Deity (which is also linked at the top of this update). What part shall I cover next, hmm?

Although I can’t tell you about the elekes ceremony, I can tell you a little bit about what happened afterwards. We had to wear white for the journey home. And we have been encouraged to wear white or lightly-colored clothing for a short period of time — maybe a week or two. It’s similar to how people do a “year in white” after being crowned (although, yes, to a much lesser degree and much less strict). One explanation for why this is a thing is because black absorbs, but white reflects — at least, that’s how it works in the electromagnetic spectrum. Spiritually, we’re in a state where it’s better for us to be reflecting things.

Now, my typical viewpoint is that pure white clothes usually just get dirty too quickly. As a result, I don’t own much of them, but I obtained a set specifically with this in mind.

You know what happened to it?

I was trying to open a jar of elderberry syrup — it slipped out of my hand, hit the edge of the sink, and shattered, bathing me in its contents. No, no… “shattered” doesn’t really do it justice. It was more like an explosion. I found elderberry and broken glass at least six feet away from where I was standing and everywhere in between. And of course, it soaked me through to my underwear. Even my shoes took a hit. Remember kids: elderberry stains.

But on the bright side, I did manage to open the jar.

I sold my very last rune set on Etsy. I’m not sure why, but I always feel a little sad when I ship one off. I obviously make them with the intention of selling them, and I am happy to sell them, so it’s a strange mix of feelings. I’m pretty much out of antler slices now, so I’ll need to restock before I make more.

In more mundane news, Selene and I got some takeout on Saturday night and watched a movie. Specifically, we watched Weapons. Now that was a very strange and creepy movie. From the previews, which really didn’t give away many details, I think I was expecting a plot line that centered around either aliens or some sort of government mind control conspiracy. But nope! It was about witchcraft. It’s worth watching if you enjoy weirdness.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I will hopefully have a new M3 episode out for you later this week! Stay tuned for more!
