I’ll be honest, I don’t usually find things randomly in the street that aren’t trash.
But I do recall one day as a small child—I think my family had just visited a zoo—where I happened upon some treasure. As we were walking back to the car, I noticed a strangely green flash of light in the middle of a nearby bush. I mean, bushes are normally green, yeah, but this was a different sort of green that didn’t match its surroundings.
My diminutive, childish stature must have put me at the perfect head height to see such a thing directly in my eyeline. All of the adults just unwittingly walked by.
I let go of my parent’s hand, ran to the bush, thrust my arm inside of it, and pulled out a $50 bill.
I was rich! I had held money before—$1’s, $5’s, $10’s, maybe even a $20. But never a $50.
What does someone do with so much wealth?!

It’s been kind of a rough week, but there’s much that has been accomplished. Like for starters, I finally took down our Christmas tree. No, no, I don’t want to hear any lectures about leaving it up so long. It’s been quite a year, okay? I’m not sure how we’re almost to September.
Some fun new material to show off here. First up, books by Aliza Einhorn.
I’m currently digging into these, and will be chatting with Aliza in a future episode of M3.

Over the past week or so, I’ve experimented with cooking a few vegetarian recipes. I’m neither a chef, nor a vegetarian, so it’s been an interesting journey. Here’s a pot pie, for instance.
Selene said it was good.
I’ve also been trying my hand out at stone carving. Here are some various attempts with runes and I think I’ll be finishing a small stone set later this week.
Selene and I did some adulting and bought a mattress. Our current mattress is terrible. We’ve been waking up for years with shoulder, neck, and back pain. Hopefully this solves all that—or at least, a significant portion.
I also tried a Chaider, which is apparently a mix between cider and Chai.
It was weird.
In completely mundane news, Selene and I watched Backrooms. It’s the kind of movie you want to turn off halfway through, but keep watching because you hope it actually goes somewhere. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t go anywhere. At all. Terrible, do not recommend/10.
But on the bright side, we also went back to the fish place I mentioned a couple of weeks ago and got another super delicious meal.
Their potatoes are crazy good.
